Cheap Skin Care Treatments!!

Hello everyone. I have been super busy doing photo shoots and working a new job so I have been soooo busy!! I have been working with the great Jessica McIntosh doing make up for her fantastic photos. She is an amazing photographer and sweet friend so I have been so happy having the opportunity to work with her. I did the photo shoot with her for the talented Kyrsten Roseman and then we just worked together to do a photo shoot showing my style and make up. We are doing 2 separate photo shoots and the second photo shoot is coming up! I am so excited!! So, I have been kinda busy but I wanted to write and talk about one of my favorite skin care treatments that I forgot about!!

I have been to the beach 2 times this month, I don't know how I got so lucky! But, anywho going to the beach dries out my hair so bad but it also makes my skin go crazy!! I think it's a mixture of the ocean salty water drying out my skin with the combo of sun screen clogging my pores, with a mixture of sweat and sand adding to the pore clogging. But when I get home from the beach my skin is messed up! Every time I get back from the beach, or if I'm ever having a breakout, I will use Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque. It's green, it's tingly, and it dries on your skin pulling up any dirt and debris that does not need to be there! I love it! I think it's amazing and anyone dealing with a breakout or needed to do a good deep-clean, get this mask! I buy mine at Sally's Beauty Supply for about $3.50!

If deep-cleaning is not what you need and you need to focus on moisture go for the Queen Helene Apricot Moisturizing Masque! I love this one too! I use both the Mint Julep Masque and the Apricot Moisturizing Masque. Usually I need to focus on hydration and that's where the Apricot Masque comes into play and every once in a while I will have breakouts or you just need that good deep-clean feel and that's when I use the Mint Julep Masque! They're both fantastic and you can find both at Sally's Beauty Supply for around $3.50 each or at www.queenhelene.com Check them out and get your skin back in shape after the summer heat!

Photo Shoots!!

Ok, so I just wrote a whole blog and then I deleted it on accident....yay!

Normally I would write a blog about makeup and I do have plenty of things to discuss but at a later time. I want to write today about a photo shoot I am doing on Sunday June 6th. I am SOOOO excited! I have wanted to do a photo shoot using cheap, good makeup and show everyone that you don't have to spend tons of money to look like you just walked right off a magazine page! I just cannot wait! I met up with Mrs. Jessica McIntosh about a month ago to talk about working with her for a photo shoot. We went to high school together and she is an amazing photographer! I had to get in contact with Jessica so I could get her to take photographs of my makeup. We met up and Jessica really grasped my style and I am just so excited!! I have been looking forward to this photo shoot for over a month and it's almost here!! This is the style of me and this photo shoot-Just think bohemian safari. I am so so so excited!! I will be doing the styling, makeup, and hair for this shoot and we will be focusing on all different skin tones, types, issues, any type of skin we will work with it! I am so excited and so honored to work with Jessica!
Another thing I want to write about is that I was lucky to work with Jessica about 2 weeks ago as well and it was great!! I was honored to work with Jessica on a photo shoot for a great, talented Christian musician Krysten Roseman! Check out this link below and check out the photo shoot and after that-check out her amazing voice!!
http://www.facebook.com/home.php?sk=lf#!/album.php?aid=2303833&id=38413859&ref=mf
We couldn't have had a more beautiful day for the photo shoot and Krysten just looked absolutely beautiful! I am so pleased with the photo shoot and she just looked beautiful! Jessica did an amazing job and she just has a great eye. I am so excited to work with her again and I can't wait for you all to see it!!!

These are a few of my favorite (skin care) things!

Hi all!! It's been a long time since I have updated. Every time I write a blog I always promise that I will write the next one soon, but then life just happens and things get crazy and this poor blog gets forgotten about. First of all I want to say that I am still praying for everyone in Nashville that has been affected by the flooding. This is such a quick, unexpected disaster and it was just awful! But-Tennessee is really coming together and showing that we're not called the Volunteer state for nothing! I'm proud to be from Tennessee!!!

Next-here's a quick blog on one of my favorite skin care lines. This line is amazing and the website is so educational!!!!

Mario Badescu--

www.mariobadescu.com

This is one of my favorite skin care lines and for many reasons!! For one, it's affordable!! You do not pay for the packaging for sure. It's a simple bottle and that's all you need! The prices range from I'd say around $12-$45. Two, there are so many different types of cleansers, toners, masks, serums, treatments, moisturizers, eye creams, everything!!! Lastly, I love this line because they are boarder-line all natural. You can read and understand every ingredient in the products!

Here are a few of my favorite things!

Cleansers-These cleanser are affordable and fantastic! Non of the cleansers I have used from Mario Badescu are harsh, drying, or irritating. I do love all of the cleansers that Mario has to offer but, these are just some of my top picks and what I use. I will suggest to cleanse your face 2 times every time you wash. So what I would love is if you cleansed your face morning and night and washed it two times. If you think about it-when you shampoo your hair sometimes you will wash it with shampoo twice, so you should do that to your face. These are gentle enough that you can wash your face twice and it won't dry your skin out. If you don't want to use that much cleanser then wash your face once and massage the cleanser in for about a minute and then wash it off.

Acne Facial Cleanser-This is a gel cleanser that will not dry out your skin! This cleanser will deep clean and help keep breakouts at bay! I use this all the time even when I'm not having breakouts. It's fantastic!!! Mainly for oily, combo skin $15

Enzyme Cleansing Gel-This cleanser is amazing, it is soap free and fantastic!! This cleanser removes dirt and oil and will gently exfoliate because it contains papaya and citrus. You can use this day and night and it's great for all skin types! $12

Seaweed Cleansing Soap-This cleanser has tiny bits of seaweed in it which will give you a light-exfoliation and seaweed also is so nutrient-rich for your skin. This cleanser will exfoliate and soothe and is non-oily. This cleanser is great for everyone and it also is a mineral-rich cleanser for all skin types---just make sure you're not allergic to fish!! $12

Toners-This is what you will do after you cleanse and dry your face. I suggest using a cotton square or a round. I feel like cotton balls absorb too much toner and you're just wasting it. I like toners because these toners are gentle and are all going to give your skin some vitamins and minerals and that extra clean that your skin needs!

Chamomile Cleansing Lotion-The only thing that could throw you off about this line is that cleansing lotions are toners. All you have to do with cleansing lotions and toners are put them on a cotton pad and wipe all over face after you cleanse day and night. The chamomile cleansing lotion is great for all skin types!! It is very soothing and contains no alcohol. This is a great one for everybody!! $15

Glycolic Acid Toner-I love this toner! I use this every night for a nice, gentle exfoliation. I like glycolic acid because it can help your skin from anything to acne or anti-aging. This toner will help clean out clogged pores and really gets your skin super clean after you cleanse. This toner is good for anyone that needs a good deep clean to people who are wanting to focus on anti-aging. $18

Seaweed Cleansing Lotion-This is my absolute favorite toner!! I use this one every morning. The scent is this fresh, clean smell that is fantastic for the morning and the toner also gives your skin this fresh, tingle in the mornings. It really makes your skin feel clean, fresh, and awake. This is a alcohol-free, witch hazel toner that nourishes the skin and also is an anti-inflammatory. This one is great for all skin types but once again, make sure you do not have a fish allergy! $15

Serums and Emulsions-These are high doses of vitamins that are very thin liquids that will be able to penetrate the skin easier. These liquids will go deep into the skin and really help with any skin problem that you have. I say use these after you tone your skin and make sure you let your serum dry before you put on moisturizer.

Vitamin C Serum-This contains 7% ascorbic acid which is true vitamin C. Vitamin C helps brighten your skin and is a great antioxidant! This serum will help with anti-aging and will help detox your skin and repair damaged DNA cells. $45

Herbal Hydrating Serum-This serum is oil-free but hydrating which is great! You can put this one day or night and not worry about it feeling greasy or heavy and you can put your moisturizer right on top of it and it won't feel heavy at all. This serum is great for dry, dehydrated skin and really softens and refreshes your skin. $30

Anti-Acne Serum-I use this whenever I have a break out and this stuff works great! I use this at night before my moisturizer and I honestly can tell a difference when I wake up the next morning! I would not suggest to use this every night, I would maybe use this every other night and the nights you're not using this use the buffering lotion (I will write about this in a bit!). $20

Cellufirm Drops-This is great for anti-aging!! This serum will help tighten your skin and enhance elasticity and tone your skin!! This serum give you lots of minerals and nourishes your skin with seaweed!! Great for anti-aging or if you want to help prevent aging. $25

Night Creams-Of course I use a night bream at night. If you have acne-prone skin or really oily skin you can use a regular moisturizer at night rather than a night cream. Some nights I will not use a night cream it depends. When I'm breaking out I will use a treatment serum and a moisturizer. When my skin is behaving itself then I will focus on anti-aging and I will use a night cream.

Seaweed Night Cream-This cream feels heavy but when you wake up in the morning your skin feels so soft and amazing!! As you can tell I really like seaweed and what it does for your skin! This night cream is hydrating but it is oil free which is great for all skin types! This night cream also helps plump, firm, and nourish the skin. I also like to get clients to use this after chemical peels and microdermabrasions, it really helps with dryness and soften the skin and help heal. $20

Vitamin E Night Cream-Vitamin E is great for anti-aging and where can you get a fantastic night cream that is natural and works for $20? So this cream is great for dry skin and will help smooth out a rough texture. $18

Protein Night Cream-This night cream has emollients and plumping agents. This night cream helps firm and add tons of moisture to the skin. This night cream is great for all skin types and also has a lot of antioxidants in it as well! $20

Moisturizers-These are great for day or night. If you tend to be a little on the oily side then I would suggest a moisturizer for day and night. But make sure to only use S.P.F. in the morning and do not use it at night.

Buttermilk Moisturizer-This moisturizer is my favorite! I use it at night when I'm dealing with breakouts because it hydrates but it also is a gel-like feel so it goes on super-light. It feels great and my skin has never looked better since adding this to my skincare regimen. This moisturizer has Alpha Hydroxy Acids that will help exfoliate and sooth skin. There is also lactic acid that helps fine lines and wrinkles and this moisturizer has an anti-inflammatory. This moisturizer does it all, hydrates, exfoliates, helps with anti-aging, and soothes. Great for all skin types. $18

Collagen Moisturizer with S.P.F. 15-This one is great for the mornings!! This is going to give you your anti-aging dose as well as your protection from the damaging sun rays! The s.p.f. is not greasy or heavy and it is great! $22

Control Moisturizer for Oily Skin-This moisturizer is great for anyone who has extremely oily skin. You can put this moisturizer on the back of your hand and it will instantly give your skin a dryer texture. If you do not have seriously oily skin I would not suggest this product but if you suffer from oily skin and you're always shiny, this works great! $18

Honey Moisturizer-This moisturizer is great for all skin types. This moisturizer has alpha hydroxy acids and and tons of antioxidants. You can use this day or night just make sure you wear an s.p.f. on top of it if you wear it in the morning. $25

Oil-Free Moisturizer S.P.F. 17-This is a great moisturizer for every morning. You have your protection from the sun and you have your daily moisture. It does not go on heavy and it's just fantastic! $22

Eye Cream-I think eye creams are so, so, so important! Make sure you do not put your moisturizer too close to your eyes because the molecules in face moisturizers are so big that they will clog the sensitive eye area. So, keep your face moisturizer away from your eyes and use and eye cream! I apply to eye creams around the orbital bone and let the eye cream work from there.

Ceramide Eye Gel-This is a gel eye cream that I use in the morning. I keep it in the fridge so it really helps wake up my eyes and the cool gel will help with puffy eyes. This eye gel is grease-less and will help sooth and get rid of puffy eyes. This eye gel also helps diminish fine lines and wrinkles. $18

Glycolic Eye Cream-This eye cream gives a ton of hydration as well as the glycolic will give a light exfoliation and help combat fine lines and wrinkles. This eye cream has a ton of antioxidants and is fantastic for dryer skin or someone that wants to focus on anti-aging. $20

Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs, and Rosewater- I love this stuff!!! I suggest anyone to go out and buy this stuff!! It's so affordable and you can use it anytime. If you tend to have dry skin you can just spritz this amazing water on your skin right on top of your makeup and it won't harm it at all! All it will do is give your skin a drink of moisture as well as give it a dose of aloe and nurturing herbs. I use this right before I apply powder on my skin when I'm doing my makeup and I also use it right when I'm done doing my makeup just to set it. It's great for people who travel all the time because flying can dehydrate your skin as well. It's great!! $7

Acne Products

Buffering Lotion-This stuff is great! When I look in magazines I always see the Mario Badescu ad for the drying lotion and when I worked at a cosmetics store people used to buy that drying lotion like crazy but the truth is, people really need the buffering lotion over the drying lotion but people just don't know much about it. The Buffering Lotion is this thin liquid that you shake up and then pour it on your face and rub it in. I put this all over my face and I use it when I'm breaking out. This product is great for people who have clogged pores and cystic acne. Let this stuff dry and then I will apply my moisturizer at night. $17

Drying Lotion-The drying lotion is in a glass bottle that has a clear liquid on top and has a pink think liquid on the bottom. Do not she up and all you do is just dip a q-tip in the jar and apply this liquid on whiteheads. $17

Silver Powder-This is a white powder that you damped a cotton pad with and then apply it on clogged pores and this powder will tighten up and help deep clean pores, diminish blackheads, and absorb oil. I put this powder on and then apply a mask on top of it. It works wonders!! $12

Healing Cream-This is a cream that I apply on deep, cystic acne. I apply right on the blemish at night and this cream will heal the blemish while helping prevent any scarring. This cream also helps soothe, calm redness, and help irritation. $18

Masks-There are so many masks it's insane!!!! I'm just going to write about a few and I really suggest everyone to look at the Mario Badescu website, it's amazing!!

Calma Mask-This mask is great for rosacea! It is soothing and calming and great for all skin types especially sensitive/rosacea skin. $22

Azulene Calming Mask-This mask has soothing azulene and chamomile. This one is great for people that are suffering from sensitive skin, acne, rosacea, and anyone wanting to soothe the skin. $18

Drying Mask-This mask smells but it works!! It is a sulphur based mask that will completely dry up any oil and help pull up any dirt and debris stuck in your pores! Great for people who are suffering from acne! $18

There's about 20 more masks, but I'm not going to write about all of them. All I can say is please check out www.mariobadescu.com it is a fantastic website that is so educational!!! I hope you enjoyed!

Cheap Favorites!

This is a quick blog about a new found love! As you know I'm an aesthetician so I do quite a few waxes while at work. When I'm waxing brows I always notice people's eye shadows, eyelashes, and their lip colors. It's a good way to learn about new products and new colors! So, I was waxing a lovely lady's brows a few days ago and I noticed her amazing lip gloss!!! She let me in on her great, cheap lip gloss secret! It was by Wet 'n Wild. I love that line! If you're not familiar with Wet 'n Wild, then get familiar! It's only this great, cheap makeup line that I usually find at Wal-Greens. I absolutely love their eyeliners, I get the simple pencil liner that you have to sharpen but it works great! It's about $1 and it's amazing! I find it goes across the lid nice and even and it never smudges on me! I have almost every color that Wet 'n Wild offers I'm sure! So this lip gloss was only $1.99!!! I bought it in 568 (the one my client was wearing) and I also had to get 576A. The 568 color is this great, natural lip gloss that has this beautiful darker mauve/brown color to it that just enhances your natural lip color and makes your lips pop! The texture is not sticky at all! Finding a non-sticky lip gloss is a huge task and I have found it and it's only $1.99! Plus, the color stays on really well. The other color 576A is a lighter version of 568 but it has more of a brown/gold look to it. I would say buy both! They are great for really accentuating your lips but they're also great for every day wear! So, go to your nearest Wal-Greens and check out these amazing cheap finds!!!

Concealer Review

Hi everyone! This is not going to be a very long one, I'm sure there's a huge sigh of relief now...haha. I tend to write quite a bit about make up, I just love it and I can't shut up about it! Ok, today I'm going to talk about concealers. I really enjoy concealer, I could not live without it!

First I will discuss where I use concealer then I will write about ones I like. I apply a yellow concealer on red areas. I know a lot of people say use green concealer for this-I have found the green really shows through so I just don't use the green. I will give you a good green-tint primer you would put all over your face before you put your foundation on---

Tinted Primers-these you will put on before your foundation and will either even out your skin, brighten, neutralize, or help with redness.

The first green-tint primer is by Smashbox. It's called Photo Finish Color Corrective Foundation Primer in the green tint called Adjust. There is also Balance, which is lavender and this helps sallow (yellow) skin and there is Blend which helps even out discoloration and dark spots. They are all $38
http://www.smashbox.com/

The next one I like is by Lorac. It's called Oil-Free Neutralizer Color Correcting Makeup. This you put on before your foundation and it really helps neutralize color. There is one in a green tint that I cannot find on the Lorac website but that one is amazing!
http://www.loraccosmetics.com/

So, if you used one of these color correcting primers then you would apply your foundation and then I would apply my concealer. I do not use a color correcting primer so I first apply my foundation then put on a yellow-tinted corrector on my red areas. Like I said earlier I put the yellow around my dark circles around my eyes, the redness around my nose, and around my chin. Next I apply my concealer that matches my skin on top of the yellow corrector. I put a loose powder to set where I have applied my concealer.

Ok on to concealers-

The one I am using right now I love!!!
CoverGirl Simply Ageless Corrector- This is a yellow-tinted cream that you put on dark under eye areas to help neutralize the dark area. You put this on before your under eye concealer. I also use this yellow concealer around my nose and in a semi-circle shape on my chin. I always have redness around my chin under each corner of my mouth so I just use this yellow to brighten and even out my skin. Basically anywhere that has discoloration (for me, redness) I use this yellow corrector. It works great!

CoverGirl Simply Ageless Concealer-This one is great! Both of these items that I have just mentioned from CoverGirl have a mix of foundation color and Oil of Olay anti-aging moisturizer. This is great because it gives a good finish and really helps hydrate. I also like the fact that you have helping fight aging as well as wearing makeup! Note***even though these items have Oil of Olay moisturizers in them STILL WEAR MOISTURIZER AND EYE CREAM!! Very, very important!

CoverGirl also has blush and foundation in this Simply Ageless line that I have yet to try but I love these two items!!! They are amazing and Walgreen's usually has a buy one get one free deal so that's how I get the corrector and concealer :)
Corrector-I'm not sure exactly on the price I want to say around $8-$9
Concealer-I'm not sure about this one either I think around $9-$10
Ok next concealer

Alison Raffaele-Oh my gosh this is my favorite concealer!!! But-my major downfall to it is that it's expensive. That's why I'm more for the CoverGirl. But, if money is not a problem for you-go for this one! Or-if you have really dark circles and you have tried so many different lines and they don't work go for this one it is amazing!!! This concealer is high-coverage, paraben free, fragrance free, oil free, and just plain amazing! I have also used Alison's foundation it's a great foundation but I will say super-sheer and a little pricey for me. But if you want a light coverage foundation this is a good one especially if you have very sensitive, acne-prone skin.
Concealer-$23
Foundation-$38
http://www.alisonraffaele.com/

Jane Iredale Circle/Delete Foundation-I have used this one before and it is pricey but it does last quite a while. I use Circle/Delete 1 & 2. Number 1 is very light so I need that to match my skin tone, I use number 2 because one of the colors is a red/pink color and that works really well for people with dark circles! I do like this one but it is a little tacky/sticky so if you have drier skin I would not go for this one! This is a great concealer, I would also use the Active Light Under Eye Concealer on top of the Circle/Delete. The active light concealer has light-reflective properties so it really helps bring attention to these areas where you use it. I put this right at the boarder of my cheekbone and under eye. So, do not put this under the entire eye, just right at the cheekbone. It gives this dewy light color, very pretty. But-both of these are kinda pricey and I still have cheaper options I like more
Circle/Delete-$29
Active Light-$25
http://www.janeiredale.com/

Urban Decay 24/7 Concealer-I like this one, it's cheaper and it was kind of similar to the Alison concealer but it still didn't cover as well as Alison's did. But, these concealer is in a stick so it does go on a little heavier so if you have dry skin I would not go for it and if you cannot find an exact match to your skin pass this one by. It's good but it's a little heavy and I remember using this one but it has almost slipped my memory if that says anything about it.
24/7 Concealer-$17
http://www.urbandecay.com/

Ok, these are my top picks from different price ranges and different types. I hope this helps and I hope you enjoyed :)

Self-Tanning: A Guide to Help You Through It

Hi All!!! It has been a while and I am very sorry. For my next topic I would like to talk about self-tanners. I used to Spray Tan at my old job and honestly, it looked great. The Spray Tan machine we used was very expensive and it was expensive to get spray tanned. So-we don't need that do we? We don't need to be embarrassed as we stand there topless in weird underwear to avoid tan lines while some person we don't know sprays tanning solution on us. Why not just do it at home? And guess what? These tanners I'm going to suggest to you are cheap and the price you pay isn't just for one application, these all will last you for months!

First-a few tips. I suggest of course to scrub in the shower and get a good exfoliation before you decide to use a self-tanner. Next-make sure you're nice and dry before you apply self tanner and make sure you have ample time to sit down, relax, and let your self-tanner dry.

Okay!!! Here are some of my tried & true suggestions for self-tanners.

First-L'Oreal
L'Oreal Sublime Bronze-I have used the one that is in a tube and the tube is not transparent/orange. The one I have used is a bronze color. It is labeled as Tinted Self-Tanning Lotion. At first I loved it!! I looked tan, great, blah blah blah. Then I stepped outside and uh oh! I had streaks all over my legs, I looked like a crazy woman! But, I also have super fair skin. So, I suggest if you have a naturally darker skin tone, then this one would work well for you. But for you pasty gals like me-I would stay away. Another problem I have is that it is not a moisturizer so I always feel dry and scaly and I don't like that. Who does though really? So the texture feels tacky and it's hard to spread across your body and then it feels like you have this weird plastic layer over your body....I don't know I probably would not suggest this to a lot of people.

**One suggestion on the gel-like tanners-I know people tell you not to do this but----If you put a lotion on first and let it absorb and then put the tacky, gel tanner on it does help you apply it evenly and I feel like it looks better. But, I have found one I like that doesn't take 2 steps, I will get to that one shortly :)

On the subject of L'Oreal Sublime Bronze, I have used the towelettes and those worked pretty well for me. I still really enjoy a lotion of sort though, it just helps me figure out if I've missed a spot. These towels are quick and easy but you don't get that instant tan so you don't really know if you've missed any spots and it does not hydrate either so that stinks as well. I really think your body needs moisture and these two items do not provide that.

*I want to say the prices of the L'Oreal products are about $8-$10. You can find these at any drug store, Target, or Wal-Mart.

Next-Jergens
Jergens Natural Glow Foaming Daily Moisturizer-I love this one!! Actually the next 3 I absolutely love! The Jergens Foam is great! You would think that it would not go on even, but it does!! I also like that it is hydrating as well as a self-tanner. You really don't have to use much foam at all, it really goes a long way! I feel like the bottle lasts quite a while as well! I really like this one, I really don't have much negative to say about it really. I will say it is a very natural look but there's nothing wrong with that because you do use it every day after you shower so you don't need this heavy, deep self-tanner every single day. So-since it is hydrating and it gives a very natural color it's great to use every day and like I said a very tiny bit goes a long way. I have never had a problem with streaking and it just works great! Since it gives such a natural look I use this next product with it when I need a boost for a special event or something to pump up the color just a bit.

This one is about $8 or $9 and you can get this at any drug store or Target.

Neutrogena-
Neutrogena Micro-Mist Airbrush Sunless Tan-This little beauty is in a spray can and it works great! It really adds an extra boost of color so I don't use this sucker every day. And let me warn you-do this in a large ventilated room or you will be sneezy, coughing, choking, and you won't be able to see in the smokey self-tan haze that you have caused. I do love it but it's a little messy. This is how I do it-first I exfoliate in the shower and then dry off and put on either the Jergens Natural Glow Foam or the lotion ( I will discuss this one next ). Then I lay out towels and start spraying in slow, circular motions from my feet up. Remember----feet and hands only need one quick spray, the rest of the body needs slow movements! I lay towels out because if you don't if you're spraying it and you're on a tile floor you will slide across your bathroom floor and fall into your shower! If you're using it and you're on hardwood floor you will get stuck in that area and have a sticky mess for quite a while! So-put towels down! After I spray, I just dry and hang out for a big. One major bonus to this one is that you can spray your hands so that's always nice. You can have tan hands without having orange palms.

This one is about $10 or $11 I can't remember. I know it's a little higher than the lotions and gels and I do feel like this one runs out really quickly. But, like I said-I rarely use this one-save this one for special occasions.

Jergens-
Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer-I am currently using this one right now. I love it! It gives you your daily dose of hydration after a shower and it tans you! Not only is it a daily moisturizer and a self-tanner it has firming agents that are clinically proven to reduce the appearance of cellulite in as little as seven days! (I just copied that right off the front of the bottle, could you tell?) I use this every day after I shower, it smells good, it looks great, and I do believe it is firming! I think it works! Now like I said before about the foam, this gives a great natural look if you need a color boost, try to Neutrogena Spray Tan after you use this lotion. But for an every day glow this stuff does great! This one comes in a larger bottle than any of the others and I just love it!

I also like the Jergens Healthy Complexion Daily Face Moisturizer-It's great, it doesn't clog my pores, it has your s.p.f. it's great!!

Here are my last few pointers-I do give my self-tanning a break after a little bit, I'd say about a week straight. I shower daily and I use those tanning moisturizers every day but if you just keep layering these tanners over and over eventually no matter how great the product is, you're going to look uneven and dirty. So-give it a rest for a couple days and just use a good plain moisturizer. Then go back to scrubbing and exfoliating and then start over. Also-I only exfoliate when I start my tanning round over again. I do not exfoliate every day I only do it when I feel like my tan is getting a little dirty-looking and then I scrub and start over.

All these are cheap and easy to find. Don't spend tons of money buying really expensive brands or spend tons of money getting some random stranger to spray tan you-just do it at home for about $9.00!

What Foundation is Good For You!

There are many different types of foundations and I know the big craze is the mineral foundation. I do like the mineral foundation and I do love that people really want to use foundations that do not clog your pores. But, people forget that you can wash your face and that many companies create non-comedogenic foundations that will not cause breakouts or clog your pores. I tend to breakout really easily but I have not used a mineral foundation in a while and I have not had any issues with foundations. But, I do wash my face every night, use a toner every night, and I moisturize right before I go to bed. So remember that’s a very important step!

Stick Foundation-A stick foundation looks like a giant concealer stick. I think the best way to apply it is either getting a foundation brush and brushing it from the stick onto the face, or dotting some of the foundation on the face and then spreading it around with a foundation brush. Usually this foundation has a lot of coverage and is heavy so very little is needed. Stick foundation is better for dry to normal skin. If anyone has oily/acne-prone foundation, I would not go for this kind. This kind gives you a great amount of coverage but I feel like it looks really, really heavy-and nobody wants that right?

Liquid Foundation-Liquid foundation is the most popular, most reliable, and most well known. I believe that liquid foundation can pretty much fit any skin type. There are many different types of liquid foundation now too, some have minerals, some are for sensitive skin, and some have anti-aging properties. They are different levels of cover, some are oil-free, and they have different finishes as well. Liquid foundation has a medium coverage.

Crème Foundation-Crème foundation gives more coverage than liquid and is a little heavier feel than liquid. I feel this is better for people that are a little on the drier side. I do feel like it can feel a little heavy and look heavy as well. I used a crème foundation over the winter and I had to stop using it because it looked really cakey on me. I used that Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse foundation; I also used the Dream Matte Mousse Concealer. Even though I’m talking about crème foundation and this is called mousse, I feel like the consistency of this concealer and foundation was more like the crème. At first I really liked this foundation and concealer but then it looked really cakey in certain areas and it just didn’t work out for me. If you have dry skin but you want more coverage, I would just go for a liquid foundation and a good concealer than use a crème foundation. I do like Paula Dorf’s crème foundation but it’s a little pricey, I want to say it’s around 42$, but it’s great!

Mousse Foundation-Mousse Foundation is like a crème foundation but very whipped. I’m kinda neutral about this type of foundation. It doesn’t really look heavy, has medium coverage, and does not fall into lines and wrinkles.

Tinted Moisturizer- This is great for girls on the go, when you’re working out, or people that really don’t like to put on too much foundation. You have your s.p.f. added in it which is great and you have a 2-in-1. You have your moisturizer and you have your very light coverage foundation all together. I would say if you are dry, I would tell people to put a separate moisturizer on first, and then let that dry, and then add your tinted moisturizer. Tinted moisturizer has the sheerest coverage and I love it during the summer! Nobody wants to have heavy makeup on in the summer! This is a great buy for the summer months! Revlon has some new products that I think will be great for the summer they’re called Age Defying Spa Face Illuminator Foundation. That’s my next purchase! I will let you know what I think about it.
Plus-off the subject here but Jessica Biel in that add-oh my gosh she looks gorgeous! I can see this being a big look for the spring/summer! It's the picture at the top! It’s very 20’s gold, bronze, pinks. It’s beautiful! Anywho back to the foundation!

Crème-to-Powder Foundation-This foundation is quick but I feel like it’s still really cakey if you have dry skin. If you have oily skin, this would be a good pick for you! You have your foundation and your powder all set in one compact and helps with the shine!

Powder Compact- This really can help with shine and is great for people with oily skin. Powder foundations can be used wet or dry. But, I have noticed when people use any powder wet, it really tends to ruin the top layer of the powder and you can never really get the true color back. So, if you feel like you need to wet the powder-get another type of foundation! I used to use a pressed mineral powder over the summer but during the winter I couldn’t use it! It made my skin dry and it really looked flakey. So you have to watch out for that! I use a simple translucent loose powder on top of my liquid foundation and I feel like that’s the best way to do it no matter what kind of skin type you have!

Pigmented Mineral Foundation-This is all the rage right now. I feel like some give a very metallic finish where some have a great finish. Either way-not good for people who have large pores, fine lines and wrinkles, or who are dry. The coverage can really range depending on how many layers you do. Bare Escentuals can really adjust to many different coverages because it’s all up to you on how many coats you do. But, I feel like it’s a very shiny, metallic finish and it feels heavy on me. But, some people look great with it! I have a pressed powder from Jane Iredale and it was great but it had very minimal amount of coverage.

After reading my reviews I’m sure you can tell that I’m more partial to liquid foundations. There are so many different types of liquid foundations that can suit so all different types of skin types. They range from all different levels of coverage and it always looks great! Here are some tips to find out what kind of skin you have-

Dry-a lot of people say they have very dry skin but most people just have dehydrated skin. If you pinch your skin together and it wrinkles up-you have dehydrated skin. When I’m doing facials and I analyze skin, the majority of people have dehydrated skin-including mine! Another thing is that people have dry skin on the top layer-a simple solution is to find a good scrub and only exfoliate once a week! Then find a good, hydrating moisturizer. Make sure your moisturizer does not have mineral oil. Mineral oil feels hydrating but it creates a barrier over your skin so the moisturizing properties do not even absorb into the skin. If you have dry skin it feels dry to the touch, kind of a rough texture to the touch.

Oily-You can tell if you’re oily by the look and feel. If you’re pretty shiny and you have large pores all over your skin, then you are oily. Tips for oily skin-do not think that drying it out is going to help oil production because it doesn’t. If you refuse to give your skin hydration from a moisturizer your skin will start to get dryer and then your skin will think, “Hey, we’re getting pretty dry, we need to produce more oil now to hydrate.” So, it kinda defeats the purpose because at first you might feel like your skin is not as oily as it used to be, but eventually it will go back to the way it was or get even oilier!

Normal-Normal skin is rare and if you have it consider yourself very lucky! Normal skin does not have large pores, rarely breaks out, and is not oily or dry to the touch just normal. If you have normal skin just maintain it as much as you can!

Combination- Most people have combo skin. You’re normal to dry in some areas, you’re oily/acne prone in others. Usually people that have combo skin have larger pores around the nose, chin, forehead area (the T-zone).

Sensitive/Acne-Prone-If you have this skin, you know it! You could have rosacea, acne, break out easily, or your skin can just get irritated easily. I would say go for nice calming masks once a week and really focus on cooling, soothing products-no heat!

I hope this helps give you an insight of all the different types of foundations there are! Next up will be a review of self-tanners! ‘Tis the season to be tan and let’s do it the safer way!

Warm of Cool? What skin tone are you?

A main factor in picking the perfect foundation is what undertones you have in your skin. People are either yellow skin tone or red skin tone. People also have warm or cool skin tones. Warm and cool skin tones help people base what colors to use for your foundation and blushes etc. Here are a few ways to find your skin tone. Yellow-orange goes for more warm tones and blue-red are more for the cool tones.

Vein test-This is one way to determine your skin tone. I have never tried this one before but I wanted to at least put this one on here to give a lot of options-

***Flip your arm over if your veins are greenish then you have yellow skin tone and you are a warmer skin tone.

*** If your veins are bluer than you are a cooler skin tone with blue undertones.
I have never used this test before, but I wanted to give you the option to try it out. I hope it works for you!

Towel Test-Pull your hair back and wash your face. After you have washed your face keep your hair pulled back and place a white towel across your neck and chest.

***If your face looks yellow against the towel-guess what? You have a yellow undertone and are a warm tone.

*** If your face looks blue against the towel you are a cool skin tone and have blue undertones.
I have not tried this test either---sorry I will get to my preferred tests next :)

Jewelry Test-Sometimes people determine their skin tones by seeing how gold or silver jewelry looks against their skin. I do not use this method either, and I like both types of jewelry even if one looks bad against my face. But really, what I would do instead of jewelry would be a piece of metallic fabric. I would put it against your clean skin and see which one brings your skin to life with a rich, vibrant color and which one washes you out and makes you pasty.

***Ok so-if silver looks better on you than you are a cool tone. If the gold looks better on you then you are a warm tone! Yay!

Scarf test-Pull your hair back and wash the face. Stand in front of a mirror and have your shoulders bare. Put a piece of yellow material across your shoulders and see if it brightens your appearance and really draws attention to your eyes then you are a warm, if it makes you look blotchy and very yellow then you are a cool. When you place a blue piece of material around you then if you’re cool the blue will really brighten your skin and draw attention to your eyes and if you’re warm it will basically look the opposite :)

Warm tones tend to have a yellowish-orange cast to the skin.

**Usually warm tones have naturally black or brown hair and your eyes are brown and you have olive or golden complexion and you tan easy.

***You could also be a warm tone if your hair is naturally golden to dark blonde, your eyes are dark brown and your skin is golden or olive and you tan easy.

***If you had red or light auburn hair with maybe a bit of dark blonde, your eyes are green or brown and you skin tone is more beige, and you tan easily you have a warm tone.

If you have warm tone then I would say go for earthier colors for a normal day-to-day basis. Look for words like mocha, bronze, caramel, browns, taupe. For more dramatic looks you can go for bright navy, oranges, light greens and olives, moss, jade, grass-green, celery and Granny Smith Apples green. For lipsticks you can pick colors in brick reds, dark tomato red, burnt oranges. Always look for gold undertones.

Cool tones will not have a yellow-orange tone (obviously) Cool tones have more pink undertones.

***Cool tones usually have a natural hair color of light to medium brown and you have greenish-hazel eyes or blue eyes, your complexion is usually very fair to pale as well or you burn easy.

***If your natural hair color is dark ask blonde and you have hazel or blue eyes with a fair complexion.

***Dark brown hair with blue eyes and pink tones to your skin tone which is usually very fair or pale, you have cool tones.

***If you have naturally light to medium brunette hair and your eyes are blue-gray to light green and your face is fair to pale with a rosy cheek, you are cool.

***If you have red or dark brunette hair with very dark brown eyes and your skin is pale with rosy cheeks, you have a cool tone.

So, if you have cool tones look more for ivory colors when picking foundations. When you’re choosing lipsticks go for more blue-red colors, you can even do bright pinks. Cool tones can do all shades of blue, all shades of green, deep purples and rosy pinks.

I hope this helps. I know a lot of it was very repetitive but, I just wanted to give a few of the options that I do hear about all the time even if I don’t do those tests. I hope you enjoyed, sorry it took so long to write this blog. I will have a new blog up very, very soon and it will be about all the different option of foundations and which ones will work best for you!

To splurge or not to splurge-That is the question.

I love to shop and I love buying make up, purses, and especially tops and dresses! But what I hate is spending a lot of money on one item! I can shop til I drop, but I rarely spend over 25$ on any clothing item and I definitely do not spend more than $10-$15 on make up. But, there are just a few things that I will spend more money on make up-wise. I have been on the hunt for the perfect foundation and that is one item that I will spend more money on.

This subject will change and I will write more blogs about foundations the more I try and go through! If you are curious about a certain foundation that you want to try but you don't want to risk your skin or your wallet let me know! I'm up for the challenge and I'm here to help you!

Foundation is the most important make up you will use. It will base how your skin looks for long periods of time and it lays out the canvas for your masterpiece :) I will just give my opinion on what I've tried and what I love and what I do not love so much. Now remember-this is just my opinion.

Before we get started, I am going to say again, this is just my opinion. I love hearing what different people like and don't like, that's why I am here. Everyone's skin in different and this is just from my past experience. Another thing is take some extra time to find that perfect foundation. I know at drug stores you won't be able to take a sample home and try it out for you (that's what I'm here for :) I will try it and let you know before you have to spend your money) but, if you are looking into more expensive make up lines that you can get at a cosmetics store or at a department store, make sure the make up expert matches you up and gives you a sample to take home and try for yourself. If they are not willing to do that for you, go somewhere else!! I always encouraged my customers to take a sample home and use it for the next few days and I would always apply the foundation they were interested in on their face and told them to run around and test it out for the day to see how it wears, how your skin reacts and adjusts to it, and how you like it. So, once again, don't worry about asking for someone's help to apply some foundation on you and don't be afraid to get a sample, and if they're rude, leave and go elsewhere!

I do like the new mineral make up craze. I think people cannot put time and effort into washing their face and moisturizing and then using some heavy, pore-clogging make up. It completely defeats the purpose of taking time and effort into taking care of your skin.

First line I will write about is---Bare Escentuals foundation. I have used it and sold it at the store I worked at and I for one did not like it. I felt it was a little heavy and it created a mask-like appearance on my skin. Now, I do have some friends that use it and it looks amazing, the mask look and the heaviness is not there with them. For me, I do have clogged, blemished skin and it is kind of dry so I think the Bare Escentuals was just a little heavy for me. I feel like older women want to try to mineral line as well and I do feel like if you have wrinkles or larger pores, I do not think that Bare Escentuals is the right fit. I also feel like it is kind of shiny and metallic on the skin. I used to work at a cosmetics store and I could usually look at people's skin and I could tell if they used Bare Escentuals. Now, like I said this is purely my opinion and again, I do have a couple of friends who wear Bare Escentuals and it looks amazing on them! One thing I do like is that Bare Escentuals has a starter kit which has two small foundations, a mineral veil, and some brushes and bronzer. I do like that, it's a good way to try it out and it's a good price. Plus-even if you hate the make up you get some brushes! Words of the wise---if you choose to purchase the foundation in this line, make sure you buy the mineral veil as well. It finishes the whole foundation look, it seals in the foundation, helps buffer fine lines and wrinkles, it's weightless, and gives you a flawless finish.

$18 for mineral veil

Pros-all natural, doesn't clog pores, good for acne-prone/sensitive skin, natural finish, love the mineral veil!
Cons(remember just my opinion)-too heavy, weird shiny finish, bad for large pores and people with wrinkles

I have used Therapy Systems mineral powder foundation and I think it's great! It's a little pricey so that is a major downfall for me. Plus, in the summer time the mineral foundation works great for me, winter time I get dryer and I cannot wear the Therapy Systems foundation, it feels heavy and my dryness gets very noticeable. If you purchase this one I definitely would suggest purchasing the finishing powder. It is fantastic!!! I use this even when I'm not using their mineral foundation. The Therapy Systems make up line is triple-milled which means this mineral line has been ground down 3 x's more than other mineral make ups. I think this is why I love the feel, look, and texture of it. This line also has silk powder in it which I think leaves your skin fresh and healthy looking! The finishing powder is amazing and really sets the foundation. So once again, if you buy the foundation definitely get the finishing powder. I like the sunlight, it has a yellow-tint to it and it helps reduce redness which I think everybody needs! Another pro to this line is that you can get the foundation and finishing powder in loose or pressed powder. I still prefer loose :)

Therapy Systems Run Down-
Prices---$34 for foundation
$25 for finishing powder

Pros-great finish, light feel, super-fine texture so great for large pores, and wrinkles
Cons-not the best for oily skin, dry skin, slightly pricey

I used MAC Mineralize foundation around November of last year. It was about 32$ and it was great! It didn't last as long as I would have liked but honestly, it was great. It was a little sheerer than I wanted but overall I was pleased. I usually associate MAC with heavy coverage but this wasn't like that at all! My skin felt and looked great! Like I said, it is sheer coverage so if you're wanting heavy coverage--this is not the one for you! I also feel like if you're one really prone to breakouts or has very sensitive skin, I would not suggest this one for you!

MAC Mineralize Foundation Run Down-
$29.50 for liquid foundation

Pros-fabulous finish, lightweight, looks great, does not clog pores
Cons-needs a little more coverage, didn't last too long

I have tried L'Oreal True Match Foundation and I will say the coverage is good but I did not like the way it went on. You could tell their was a medium coverage but---it made my skin look very dry and it almost rolled off my face. It looked awful! It looked like my skin was super dry and peeling. That is not a look we want right girls?

L'Oreal True Match Foundation Run Down-
$10.95
Any drug store or you can go to lorealparisusa.com
Pros-affordable, lightweight, good coverage
Cons-made my skin look dry and flaky

Jane Iredale has some amazing foundations! I really like their pressed powder foundations and their Liquid Mineral foundation. Usually I would prefer a loose powder, which Jane Iredale does offer, but I really prefer their pressed for some reason. It lasts such a long time and it gives a great look and feel! I also really like the Liquid Minerals. It has A LOT of coverage so if you're one for minimal coverage-this is not the one for you! Pointers on the liquid foundation---take a few pumps and put on a make up palette plate and get a foundation brush and smash and blend it together or take a few pumps and put it on the back of your hand and just press and mix together with your fingers. You must make sure to blend well because all this foundation is is pigmented mineral powder shaped in little balls and it is suspended in hyaluronic acid. So, if you do not blend well it will look awful on the skin! So make sure you blend well and then apply to skin. Hyaluronic acid is wonderful for your skin, it keeps hydration up and helps with anti-aging. This foundation looks weird-but it's great! Major downfall-it's expensive but I love it!

Jane Iredale Foundation Run Down-
$36 for pressed foundation, $42 for loose foundation, $46 for liquid
www.janeiredale.com
Pros-great coverage, does not clog pores, good for all skin types, stays on all day
Cons-very expensive, hard to find in some locations

Right now I am using CoverGirl Clean liquid foundation for normal skin. I am really, really enjoying it! I was so weary of using CoverGirl just from past experience many, many years ago but I am really loving it. It's light but has great coverage and the price you cannot beat!! They have one foundation in the same line for sensitive skin and they have one for anti-aging. I would always stick with either normal or sensitive skin. If you tend to breakout easy go for the sensitive skin! It's just a safer bet!

CoverGirl Clean Liquid Foundation Low Down-
$4.50 at drug stores
www.covergirl.com
Pros-great coverage, light-weight, stays on all day, amazing price!
Cons-I can't think of anything right now!

I am so sorry this is so long but foundations are so important! I will continue to keep trying new brands so keep checking back!

I have nobody following me but I will still post something

Ok, here I am first real post about thrifty make up tips and products. I will first start off with some things that I will be discussing in the future. I will discuss my new cheap make up finds, make up tricks, make up looks, and any helpful pointers that I have learned along the way. It's not fair that people have to spend a ton of money on make up. I do make up and I hate spending a lot of money on it. There are very few products that I will spend more than $15 on. Just because I'm a make up artist does not mean that my giant make up box is full of designer brand make up, it's definitely not. My make up ranges from Bare Minerals, Cover Girl, MAC, to Wet 'n Wild. I have more blogs and tips coming up, spread the news and get me some followers! I'm ready to share my knowledge!
